If the heat and humidity of summer left you feeling a little slow and sluggish, fall is the ideal time to get active and fit. You may want to start a fall fitness routine, but the cost of gym memberships, workout wear and exercise equipment can really add up. These tips and trick can help you make the move to a healthier lifestyle, while keeping you financially fit, too.

  • Set fitness goals. Do you want to lose weight, eat healthier or compete in a triathlon? Whatever your fitness goal, be sure to write it down and make it specific. Instead of “lose weight” try “lose one pound a week for 10 weeks”. Tracking your progress against a measurable goal can help you stay motivated.

  • Join a gym near work. If your commute is more of a marathon than a sprint, join a gym near your workplace. You can exercise before work and start the day with a sense of accomplishment…or workout at the end of a long day to de-stress. Whether you choose morning or evening, the added bonus is you’ll beat the rush hour traffic! Visit Flyerland.ca for deals from Curves health clubs.

  • Switch up your activities. If your exercise routine is a bore you’ll be tempted to quit. Keep your fitness program fresh by trying exciting activities like spinning, hip hop, aqua aerobics, personal training and more. See Flyerland.ca and click on the WagJag link for daily deals…and be sure to check back often for great new ideas.

  • Fit in fitness. Can’t get to the gym? You can fit in fitness throughout the day by walking during lunch hour, taking the stairs, getting off the bus or subway a stop early, parking at the far end of the lot or down the street and walking the rest of the way. Stores like National Sports have great deals on gear like running shoes and resistance bands that can help you add a little extra to your fitness activities.

  • Involve the whole family. When a gym membership is not in your budget, consider joining your local community centre. These facilities offer a wide range of activities for all ages so you can get fit as a family and spend quality time together. Check out Walmart, Payless or Sears for deals on comfortable shoes that will get the whole family moving.

  • Try the buddy system. Get together with a friend and make a plan to take a yoga class, play tennis or go for a walk. You’re more likely to stick to your routine when a fitness buddy is counting on you. You’ll strengthen your muscles—and your friendship.

  • Get more than a Wii bit fit. The whole family can shape up and have fun right in the comfort of your own home. Wii Fit™ offers training, balance, and motion activities, and you can even personalize your exercise routine and track your progress. See Flyerland.ca for bargains on Wii Fit and accessories.

These tips surely provide good advantages to economic persons like me. I cannot afford going to gym or any other boot camps. Me and my family members just do some physical exercises everyday morning. I really like your idea of walking after lunch.

Thanks
