Springshop Spring is here and the stores are bursting with vibrant colours like a garden in full bloom. But even if a Spring shopping spree is not in the budget, you can ease into the season by updating your look with a few new colourful pieces. These tips will help you make a smooth transition into Spring style... and save money.

  • Add a splash of colour. Brighten a drab suit inexpensively by adding a coloured t-shirt, belt, scarf or jewellery. Buy them now and they’ll carry you through the spring and summer seasons—Try Sears Outlet stores for great bargains and view their flyer on Flyerland.ca

  • Host an accessory swap. Invite friends over and have everyone bring gently used accessories such as purses, wallets, jewellery, belts and scarves. What’s old can definitely be new again!

  • Jump feet first into colour. Colourful shoes are a fun way to add some kick to your wardrobe. Shop smartly at stores like Payless, The Shoe Company or Wal-Mart. Take a look at their flyers on Flyerland.ca and you can splurge on a few pairs in a rainbow of shades.

  • Brighten your everyday items. Are your wallet, umbrella, sunglasses case and cell phone cover all basic black? Try colours instead! A rich red phone case will make you smile when you take a call and a sunny yellow umbrella can add cheer to even the rainiest spring day. The Bay has a super selection of accessories.

  • Shop the sale racks. You may want to spend a bit more for good quality staple items that will last, but when it comes to accents in the colours of the season, shop the sale racks for big savings. Visit Flyerland.ca for flyers and coupons for some of your favourite stores.

  • Share party dresses. Evening wear can be pricey, especially if you wear an outfit only a few times. Find a friend or two who are the same size as you and share your fancy party dresses. You’ll always have a hot new look without the high price tag.

  • Save on trendy pieces. Jean jackets are making a big comeback this season and you can save with denim deals at stores like Zellers—check the latest flyer on Flyerland.ca.

  • Freshen up last year’s looks. You can give a new look to old clothes by adding a few details like trim, buttons, lace and other accessories. You’ll find lots of inspiring ideas at Fabricland. You can also find their flyer on Flyerland.ca.

Since my circle already swaps, I also hit Value Village for incredible deals, but you have to factor in the dry cleaning expense, which on leather and suede is about $30, but otherwise not too bad. My secret is to hit the ones in the ritzy areas, you get the best stuff.
